Using Intuition in a Job Search

Can your natural born intuition help with finding a new job? Try these tips for using intuition in a job search.

Did you ever get that uneasy feeling when you walked into a prospective place of employment? Perhaps it was that subtle knowing that this company wasn’t right for you or did not have the same value structure. You may not have had anything concrete or logical to go on when you sat down with the hiring manager, but you just knew, even before the interview started that this was not where you should be?

With unemployment being what it is in this day and age, many are longing to find a place of employment where their skills can be used and appreciated. You still need to practice discernment though and it pays to think all aspects of a new job through, not just the salary and benefits.

Here are some more tips for using your intuition to help you find a new employer.

Intuitively Evaluating a New Place of Employment

Here are a few tips for job seekers to intuitively evaluate finding a place of employment that will suit their personality and values.

Clairsentience

(clear feeling) As a potential employee, pay attention to how you felt pulling up to the building, the initial vibe you got when you walked through the door, and the feeling you had when being introduced to potential bosses and co-workers. What was that feeling? Was is good, uncomfortable, or neutral?

Clairaudience

(clear hearing) Pay attention to what people in your new potential workplace say, both verbal and non-verbal. Listen to the undertones heard while walking down the corridor. Listen to the conversations going on. Is their a warm laughter, or a coldness about the place? What is the general tone of the business? Can you envision yourself working there?

Clairvoyance

(clear seeing) Do people smile at you or do they ignore you when being shuffled between interviews? Are they just a bit too smiley? Is it just a facade? This has a lot more to do with the residual impressions left behind than those seen on the surface.

What are the values of the company and the people who are doing the interviewing? Do they match yours and are they genuine? If you value honesty and integrity highly, does the business or those whom you would report to practice those values?

Claircognizance

(clear knowing) Does this company match your initial perception? Did you get big sirens going off in your head, or huge signals that this is not the right place for you?

Did you find yourself incredibly sleepy or tired after the interview process? These are also signs that the company may not be a great match for your skills and personality. Even if you have had to undergo a long day of employment testing, you should still feel energized when thinking about the new opportunity.

Don’t Ignore the Lights and Sirens

The big sirens going off in your head are your guides trying to get your attention and steer you in another direction. It is your choice whether or not you want to listen to them, as you can always exercise your free will.

With many folks out of work currently, it is quite easy to ignore these signals and let your logical mind override your subtle feelings and knowing.  Don’t let fear be the driver of the next years of your life.

Using Intuition in a Job Search

Companies also use intuition in the hiring process. It is used more frequently than you might think. When you sit down for an interview, the interviewer is not only sizing you up visually, but reading you intuitively.

What they are looking for is a vibrational match. What this means is they are reading your verbal and non-verbal responses to questions and evaluating accordingly. If you are an energetic match to the company or business you are interviewing with, it will show in your body language, your facial expressions and other non-verbal indications.

An intuitive evaluation of your next employer will tell you a lot about the company and yourself. It can help clarify what you are looking for in a potential employer. It also allows you to find out more about what you will accept and will not accept. Let yourself shine and you will have a good chance of finding a position in a company that matches your personality and values. Have fun using your intuition in a job search!
