Podcast 9 Transcript – How To Develop Clairsentience

Thank you for listening in to today’s Intuitive Journal podcast. I am your host, Laura Jean Warnke and the author of the blog, IntuitiveJournal.com. For the past 8 years I have been a professional intuitive, spiritual advisor, and the author of the blog, Intuitive Journal where I write about stepping out of the psychic closet, repeating angel number patterns and developing your intuition. This is the fourth podcast on how to recognize and develop your metaphysical senses, so if you missed the others from a few weeks ago on clairvoyance, clairaudience, and claircognizance you might want to go back and have a listen. Clairsentience (which means clear sensing) is one of the four metaphysical senses, the others being clairvoyant (clear seeing), clairaudient (clear hearing), and claircognizant (clear knowing). It is one of your four metaphysical senses in addition to your five physical senses.

What is Clairsentience (Clear Sensing)?

Clairsentience is a metaphysical sense that relates to recurring physical and emotional feelings. This is known as clear feeling and signifies Divine guidance.

One way I would describe it is this…If you have ever had a physical or emotional feeling wash over you without a discernible connection to what you were currently thinking about, you have probably just experienced clairsentience. This is the ability to sense or feel vibrational frequencies to such a strong degree that you actually receive a physical sensation. It relates to recurring physical and emotional feelings. It is about you being able to trust what you are feeling.

So, to start things off, I thought I would share with you is a personal example of clairsentience from one of my prior jobs: I would drive to work and even before I parked and got out of the car, I would look toward the office door and there were times when I would get a strong feeling my boss is already upset. Sure enough, I could tell before I talked to her or walked in the building that something had gone on with a customer or there had been an upset in her personal life.

By receiving this information before walking inside the office, it allowed me a few extra moments of mental preparation. I was able to put the proper energy shields in place so I could remain focused on the current issues.

How To Recognize Clairsentience

Okay, so now I want to take about how to recognize clairsentience and many of these are actually physical ways, meaning you will feel it within your body.

Physical Impact of Clairsentience

Stomach aches, sweaty palms, instantly getting angry, hair standing up on the back of your neck, a tingling sensation in your back, or maybe your heart fluttering little bit and sometimes even feeling ill, depending on the situation. These symptoms are all quite common and indicative of experiencing a heightened type of clairsentience.

Perhaps you feel sad or anxious all of a sudden without reason, or feel an unexplained sense of foreboding. You may also experience physical symptoms that belong to someone else and just seem to come out of nowhere. When this occurs it is time to look deeper at why you are getting the message. It may mean changing your travel plans or course of action. We’ll talk more about that at the end of the podcast.

Questions To Ask Yourself

Here are some important questions to ask yourself when you have such a feeling. The first one and I think it is probably one of the most important; Is the feeling my own?

Really think about that…is the feeling your own? If not, whose name comes to mind?

Another question you can ask yourself…What was I thinking about just before I had the feeling?

And another one…Who was I thinking about just before I had the feeling?

Empathy

One of the big parts of Clairsentience is empathy. Empathy is the ability to tune in, sense, and feel other people’s emotions. You can experience a range of happy or sad emotions or somewhere in-between, but the difference is they are not your own feelings. It is kind of like walking a fine line with empathy. Being able to feel another person’s pain is a form of compassion.

However, if you continue to experience someone else’s emotions, it’s really time to think about using some clearing techinques and to also look at where you are allowing anything within your personal power to be dissipated. So, additional clearing techniques are probably going to be very helpful at this point.

Overactive Empathy

If you keep picking up on the emotions and feelings of someone else, what that is is overactive empathy. So, that is empathy taken to the next level where you are actually tuning in too much to somebody else’s feelings or emotions.

If you find yourself doing that a lot, sometimes it is tougher to turn off, but there are energy clearing techniques that are helpful in order to kind of reign in that empathy, so that it is not totally overactive. Some of them involve blocking or mirroring and it depends where you are at which one might work better for you.

Because otherwise you end up walking around and picking up other people’s emotions left and right. And that is not good for you! It’s not good for anyone.

Are You Constantly “On”?

If you are constantly “on” and picking up other people’s feelings and emotions, it is so easy to get them confused with your own. Once you are consciously aware of this you will be able to realize when that is happening and be able to use your own energy, just by having that conscious awareness. To take back your own energy and go “no…I’m done here. I’m not tapping in anymore and I know the difference.”

While I have a lot more to say about overactive empathy as it is something that has affected me quite a bit, let’s just say for now if you feel perpetually drained because you keep feeling the emotions of someone else, you are more than likely experiencing overactive empathy.

Without going into too much detail on this as I plan to do another podcast on the subject, often one of the root reasons or causes of overactive empathy is related to the third chakra, the power chakra.

So, you might be giving your power away to someone else. I understand that might leave you wondering and asking more questions, but I would really like to explain it in more depth, so I will do an upcoming show dedicated to overactive empathy, as I know it bothers many of you that are highly intuitive.

Psychometry

Okay, so let’s move on to another way to recognize clairsentience and that is psychometry. This is one area that doesn’t seem to be talked about quite so much, but to me, it is a very fascinating area. It is the ability to use touch to gain information about an object that you are holding.

So, have you ever picked up an object and gotten a sensation or feeling from it? That is using psychometry. Not everyone has developed this ability and for some of you it might be only when it is a familiar object that someone you know has owned, such as a piece of grandma’s jewelry.

Psychometry uses touch to gain information about a situation by holding an object and tuning in to its energetic frequency. Jewelry is often an object of choice, as it has had direct contact with a specific person. Maybe they have worn a ring or put a necklace on.

Using psychometry often can tell personality traits about another using an object held in the hand. You can also pick up on past events and situations through visions and impressions received from holding an artifact. Jewelry is really a lot of times the biggest one as it has had direct contact with another person.

Fragrances

Clairsentience also involves fragrances. Sensitivity to smells like fragrances is another way to feel and sense energy. Many people report smelling the favorite flower or perfume of a deceased loved one, even though that scent failed to be present in the home.

I don’t know if you have ever had the experience, but, you might be walking through your house or maybe you are cleaning out a loved ones house and it is months later and you just catch a whiff of that person’s perfume. You just catch a whiff of their favorite flower. Even though there is no way the scent was actually present at that moment. It really is so wonderful when that type of thing happens. It is validation from spirit that the person is there and they are with you.

Sensitivity To Touch

Another part of clairsentience is having a real and heightened sensitivity to touch, as in the laying on of hands to another person and how you notice and you feel the changes. If you are in the healing arts already, like if you are doing Reiki, or some other type of massage therapy, or many other type of hands on healing, the clairsentience and the feeling that goes with that, you will be able to much easier pick up the changes within another person.

Sensitivity to touch becomes useful to discern areas of the body needing attention and healing. You might be able to feel hot or cold spots on a person’s body while doing massage therapy, for example.

Also, being clairsentient, don’t actually expect to have so much of a visual experience. You will experience your intuition through your feelings and you will sense or feel your Spirit Guides. You will be able to sense them near you and what they look like and even sense the messages they have for you.

You are able to feel another person’s pain and that can be very helpful at times. If you are really trying to help understand where someone else is coming from or they are feeling very sad you are reaching in to them and feeling their pain along with them so that you can understand it, that’s fine, but watching out for letting that continue on all the time.

Sudden Sadness

Another way you can experience clairsentience is the feeling of feeling sad – especially all of a sudden. So, sudden sadmess. You may just feel like something is coming over you. You just feel so sad. You may be very anxious and there is no reason. It can feel like an unexplained sense of foreboding and other times it will be literal physical symptoms like the hair standing up on the back of your neck.

What I want to say about this is listening to what you are getting and understanding the difference; “is this me feeling that way or is this coming THROUGH me and am I feeling it from another?” You could change your travel plans, your course of action for the day of what you were going to do because of these feelings.

If someone brings up “let’s go over here!” and you all of a sudden have a stomach cramp, almost immediately. That would be a very good indication that you should NOT be following through with that. You might find yourself saying “Hey no, let’s do something else.”

So, there are a few important questions to ask yourself when you have those types of feelings. This is some of what I said in the beginning and I will repeat it.

The first one: Is the feeling my own? And if not, whose feeling do you think it was? Whose was it? Usually the first name that comes to mind is correct. Think about how everything and everybody is connected and think about your recent contact with that person. Was it a good experience? Was there something undiagnosed that you haven’t had enough time to dive into and think about a little bit more?

Another question, what was I thinking about just before I had the feeling? That is another good indication. Who was I thinking about just before I had the feeling?

So, those are some questions to ask yourself when you have experiences come through and you are not sure as far as their origin.

How To Develop Clairsentience

So, let’s talk a little bit about developing Clairsentience. Here is an example of clairsentience: So you know when you are faced with a decision how you can sit and analyze it for hours or days even sometimes? You can come up with all sorts of things to change your mind, numerous times back and forth.

So what you really want to do is try feeling into that resistance. Which choice feels best? Be on notice of the thoughts and feelings that come up immediately afterwards, particularly the feelings. That can be a lot of times where the dissonance is hiding. That is where the doubt is hiding.

What is behind those feelings? Where do you feel it in your body? How do you feel it in your body? Sometimes it is just a single word answer it really doesn’t have to be much more complicated than that.

It is just like trust. Trusting what you get. You can trust the clairaudient message that you get. Here it’s about trusting the clairsentient message that you get, the feeling that you get. If you are getting a feeling of yuck and foreboding on a choice, listen to that. Follow that. It’s there for you. That’s what it is.

It is helping you connect and when you are primarily clairsentient that is one of the easiest ways…listening to your feelings. How do you feel about it? Yes or No. We’re moving forward or we’re not moving forward.

Conclusion
