I found this relaxing Reiki healing music on You Tube and thought I would share it with you. It is short, less than 5 minutes long and is perfect for relieving a bit of stress in your day.

Even if you don’t know much about Reiki, you can still benefit from the calming and healing effect it has on your mind and body. Who couldn’t use a relaxation break?

I am currently a Reiki Level I Practitioner. I will be taking the Level II Class this fall. If you want to know more about Reiki, here are a few posts I have written:  The Healing Benefits of Reiki, and  What is Reiki?.

For me, Reiki has been a wonderful self healing tool that I use almost every day. I thought it appropriate for myself as I will be enjoying a few days off on holiday (we really call it vacation in the States, but I like the term holiday better).

Time for a bit of rest, relaxation, calm and rejuvenation. Even if you are not going on holiday soon, take 5 minutes and you will be amazed at how calm you will feel.

A Reiki treatment given by a qualified practitioner is a wonderful stress and tension reducer. Each session lasts approximately 30-45 minutes. My Personal Experiences

For me I have personally seen the benefits of Reiki healing after taking the Reiki Level 1 practitioners course. This level of attunement allows you to give a Reiki treatment to someone else and also perform self treatments. It has helped me immensely with reducing stress, emotional healing and some situational depression issues. The Reiki energy has also helped to heal tooth pain that I have lived with for some time.

Allow your bodies wisdom to assist you in healing your physical and emotional pain. The Reiki healing energy flows to wherever is is needed the most within the body. Reiki is a natural, holistic healing modality that uses the life force energy available to all of us to let us heal ourselves, or act as an aid in traditional medical healing.

What is Reiki? Reiki (pronounced ray – key) is a Japanese word meaning ‘Universal Life Energy’. The energy found in all things. It is a form of deep relaxation and stress reduction, which also promotes healing.

At some point, you may have ran across an article on holistic healing or energy healing and found references to Reiki used as an alternative healing therapy. Here is what Wikipedia says about it:

“Reiki is a form of spiritual practice, used as a complementary therapy, proposed for the treatment of physical, emotional, and mental diseases. Practitioners use a technique similar to the laying on of hands, which they say will channel “healing energy” (ki). Practitioners state that energy flows through their palms to bring about healing and that the method can be used for self-treatment as well as treatment of others.”

Spiritual Wisdom and Universal Energy

The word “Rei” refers to spiritual wisdom. “Ki” is life energy or the vital life force. All living things have a life energy surrounding us and flowing within us. It relates to our spirituality, thoughts, and emotions.

How Does Reiki Work?

Reiki works by clearing each of the chakras, which are your body’s energy portals. These portals can sometimes become clogged when the body is under repeated stresses that it cannot clear the stuck energy on its own. This slows the energy flow in and around the body.

When that happens the energy flow becomes inadequate to clear the negative feelings, thoughts, and emotions from our mind and body. Our “Ki” needs to flow freely in order for our mind and body to remain healthy. When it cannot, our body’s organs start giving us strong signals that something is wrong, in the form of sickness and dis-ease. Reiki helps the energy to flow freely again so the body can repair itself.

Benefits of Reiki

Reiki reduces stress and tension and relaxes the entire body. It can also help boost your immune system and reduce pain. It can help clear emotional blocks and clear your mind along with lifting some forms of depression. Chronic conditions can also be relieved or eliminated with Reiki treatments.

Is Reiki a Religion?

No, there is no particular belief system attached to this process of energy healing, so anyone can benefit from a treatment or learn to give a Reiki treatment. It is open to all who wish to receive healing.

My Experiences

As someone who has recently completed Reiki Level 1 Practitioner Training, I can say that it has been a wonderful self-healing experience, both for my mind and physical body. The ability to use Universal Energy to heal yourself and learn to have that energy pass through you to heal others is something everyone has the ability to learn and experience.

This past weekend I was able to attend a free Reiki introductory seminar given by a local shop that is involved in spiritual healing and holistic wellness. It lasted about one hour. This seminar provided an overview of Reiki energy healing ideas, principles and techniques followed by information on becoming a certified Level 1 Reiki practitioner.

Included in the overview was an explanation of what Reiki was and was not, along with an introduction on how the Reiki energy works and in what types of ways it can aid in healing mind and body along with who can most likely benefit from a full treatment.

One of the things this seminar did for me was alleviate some of my fears and concerns with having a Reiki treatment for myself and also about taking the Level 1 training to become a certified practitioner.

I had read comments on a few websites online where people had become very sick after having a treatment, due to the healing process. I didn’t think I could fit being sick for a week into my schedule!

I was assured that Reiki is a very positive experience and while that possibility does exist in a very small minority, the sheer majority of people having a treatment view the healing as a positive thing, finding themselves happier, calmer, and more relaxed, almost right away or within a day or two.

It was nice to be able to talk to someone one on one who has been through a change of careers. He gave some observations and examples of how most friends and family were very supportive and mostly curious about his new career, but how a good friend of his had quite a difficult time with what he was now doing for a living. They have remained friends through the years though.

I have decided to sign up for the Level 1 training offered in January and begin a new area of my life that I never would have thought I would be taking part in.

A Reiki scan is a method to check your energy field before having a full Reiki treatment. It allows the practitioner to determine the areas of your body that may have blocked or unbalanced energies.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to have a complimentary Reiki scan (pronounced Ray-Key). This was offered by IntentionsOnline.com at their store.

This is a preliminary scan that took about 15 minutes. It is used as a diagnostic tool for learning what areas need to be addressed during a Reiki treatment. This was done while I was standing up. The Reiki Master used his hand to scan the left and right sides of my body, keeping his hand about 4 inches away. He then also scanned each of my chakras from the front.

He did note that not all Reiki practitioners do this step. Many do the energy healing session on a person and let the energy flow through and travel throughout the body where it is most needed. It seems to be a matter of how the practitioner was originally trained, as to whether this step is done. He then answered questions I had about what Reiki does and some common misconceptions.

I asked my spirit guides if having a full treatment would be helpful to my well being. They came back with a wholehearted yes! They relayed to me that I would be able to work through many of my areas of stuckness much quicker than on my own.

I will be going for my first Reiki treatment in a few weeks and will post my thoughts on that. I am also going to be attending a free 1 hour seminar this weekend offered by the same place about Reiki in general and also answering questions on becoming a student of Reiki.
